Tips for Your Trip to Tetouan

  • The currency in Morocco is the Moroccan dirham (1 MAD = €0.096).

  • Bring cash as not all shops accept credit cards.

  • Exchange money in advance, as currency exchanges at airports can be very expensive.

  • The dirham is a controlled currency, so make sure to exchange it before leaving the country.

  • If you decide to visit Tetouan in the summer, always carry water, a hat or cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

  • Avoid going out during the hottest hours. Always drink bottled water and avoid putting ice cubes in your drink.

  • Haggling is almost a tradition in Tetouan and throughout Morocco, so don't hesitate to negotiate for the best price.

  • A significant portion of the population speaks French in Morocco.

  • Be prepared for medical emergencies by traveling with insurance.

  • Wear light but modest clothing, preferably long and loose, and warm clothing at night.
